Paragraph assignment 2This assignment has two primary purposes: 1) putting in use one of the prewriting techniques discussed in Chapter 2 of the Discovery text, and 2) working with the principles of paragraph development covered in Discovery's third and fourth chaptersfor this second purpose it is essential that you read these chapters in Discovery before completing the paragraph.
This final draft of the paragraph must be typed: follow all guidelines for formatting typed work as explained on my Simple Stuff page.
In addition to the final product, turn in the prewriting materials and all drafts (handwritten and/or typed) you developed in arriving at the final draft.
Your task: In a unified, coherent, well-developed paragraph of at least 150 words (300 word maximum), address one of these two options:
- Reread the Libelia Santos "spotlight piece" essay on pp. 30-31 in our text and write on the topic suggested by the Discovery authors at the bottom of p. 31: "discuss why you think many of today's students reject what Libelia maintains is so important." That is, give your views on why so many students today, especially in junior and senior high school, are so disengaged and disruptive, seeming to care so little about their education.
- Write on the topic given in "Discovering Connections 2.2" on p. 32 in Discovery: consider the different roles you juggle in your life and explain which role is most important and why.
