English 999 reflections, fall 2022

Reflection 5: Address one of these three questions in at least 250 words. Develop your ideas with care, and where appropriate, include examples:

  • What issues do you have with time commitments, especially if you work. How do you think you may work to develop habits that allow you enough time to complete college assignments?

  • What strategies do you think you could develop to keep your "eye on the prize," so to speak--to persevere through college courses when there is sometimes a temptation to quit? In other words, what will you be able to achieve in the future if you persist in your studies?

  • What skills do you think you may need to work on most in the college environment. Math? English? Reading comprehension? Something else? Look for some campus resources that may help you, and write about what you have found.

Reflection 1: Write a paragraph of 150-250 words on what you hope to get from college. Submit the completed assignment to the Reflection 1 dropbox in D2L.

Reflection 2: Watch Professor Chew's video "How to Get the Most Out of Studying, Part I: Beliefs that Make You Fail . . . or Succeed," then write a paragraph or two of 200-300 words in response: say what you find significant in what Dr. Chew says, particularly as it applies to you. Submit the completed assignment to the Reflection 2 dropbox in D2L.

Reflection 3: Same as last time: watch Professor Chew's video "How to Get the Most Out of Studying, Part 2: What Students Should Know about How People Learn," then write a paragraph or two of 200-300 words in response: say what you find significant in what Dr. Chew says, particularly as it applies to you. Submit the completed assignment to the Reflection 3 dropbox in D2L.

Reflection 4: Watch Professor Chew's "How to Get the Most Out of Studying, Part 3: Cognitive Principles for Optimizing Learning," then write a paragraph or two of 200-300 in response: say what you find significant in what Dr. Chew says, particularly as it applies to you. Submit the completed assignment to the Reflection 4 dropbox in D2L.
